French bread
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 Tbsp
- salt - 2 tsp
- flour
- warm water
- cornmeal - 2 Tbsp
- dry yeast - 1 pkg
How to make french bread:
Put water in a bowl; sprinkle in yeast. Stir in sugar and salt; add flour all at once. Stir until well mixed. Cover and rise one hour or until double. Roll to 10 x 14-inch, roll up from the long side. Place on cookie sheet to which cornmeal has been sprinkled; make a cut in top of bread. Let rise; brush with water. Bake at 425° for 10 minutes; brush with water again; turn oven down to 325° and bake 40 minutes longer.Recipe categories: Breads, Low fat, Yeast breads.
