Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/4 c
- eggs - 4 item
- vanilla - 2 tsp
- milk - 1 c
- light cream - 1 c
How to make flan:
Beat eggs until smooth. Add remaining ingredients and beat until smooth. Pour mixture into a well-buttered 1-quart baking dish. Place dish in a large pan, which has been filled with just enough hot water to come up around baking dish. Bake in a preheated oven (350°) for 1 hour or until a knife inserted in center comes out clean. Chill for several hours before serving. Serves 6.Variations: Brown Sugar Glaze: Spread an even thin layer of lump-free light brown sugar on top of already cooked and chilled custard. Place dish under broiler, about 8 inches from heat, until sugar is partially melted and lightly browned. Serve at once.
Coconut: Sprinkle custard before baking with 1/2 cup flaked coconut.
