Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1 tsp
- brown sugar, packed - 1/2 c
- dry mustard - 1 tsp
- garlic salt - 1 tsp
- celery salt - 1/2 tsp
- medium onions, chopped - 2 item
- white vinegar - 1/2 c
- can kidney beans, drained - 1 oz
- bacon, diced - 1/2 lb
- can baked beans - 1 oz
- can butter beans, drained - 1 oz
- can chickpeas, drained - 1 oz
- can limas, drained - 1 oz
How to make five bean casserole:
About 1 1/2 hours before serving, in a large skillet, over medium heat, fry bacon and onion until onion is tender, about 5 minutes. Stir in brown sugar, vinegar, celery salt, garlic salt, dry mustard and salt. Reduce heat to low and simmer, covered, for 20 minutes.Meanwhile, preheat oven to 350°. In a 3-quart casserole, combine all beans. Spoon onion/bacon mixture evenly over top. Bake 1 hour or until hot and bubbly.
