Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- eggs - 3 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 3 c
- nutmeg - 1 tsp
- soda - 1 tsp
- buttermilk - 1 c
- baking powder - 3 tsp
- pinch of salt - 1 item
- shortening - 3/4 c
- powdered sugar - 3 c
- cloves - 1/2 tsp
- dash of cinnamon - 1 item
- dash of cloves - 1 item
- cream or evaporated milk - 1/4 c
- Cream the shortening
- mashed or cut, fresh figs
How to make fig cake:
Sift all dry ingredients together 4 times. Cream the shortening. Add beaten eggs and vanilla. Add dry ingredients, alternating with milk. Add figs; blend well. Bake in well-greased layer cake pans (3) at 350°. Test for doneness at 35 minutes.Frosting:1/3 c. soft butter pinch of salt1 tsp. vanilla dash of cloves dash of cinnamon1/4 c. cream or evaporated milk3 c. powdered sugar Cream the butter and salt.
