  • cinnamon - 1 tsp
  • eggs - 3 item
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • flour - 3 c
  • nutmeg - 1 tsp
  • soda - 1 tsp
  • buttermilk - 1 c
  • baking powder - 3 tsp
  • pinch of salt - 1 item
  • shortening - 3/4 c
  • powdered sugar - 3 c
  • cloves - 1/2 tsp
  • dash of cinnamon - 1 item
  • dash of cloves - 1 item
  • cream or evaporated milk - 1/4 c
  • Cream the shortening
  • mashed or cut, fresh figs

How to make fig cake:

Sift all dry ingredients together 4 times. Cream the shortening. Add beaten eggs and vanilla. Add dry ingredients, alternating with milk. Add figs; blend well. Bake in well-greased layer cake pans (3) at 350°. Test for doneness at 35 minutes.Frosting:1/3 c. soft butter pinch of salt1 tsp. vanilla dash of cloves dash of cinnamon1/4 c. cream or evaporated milk3 c. powdered sugar Cream the butter and salt. Add sugar with spices and cream. Beat well. Add vanilla and beat well again.
