Festive caramel bars
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 c
- milk - 1/2 c
- flour
- baking soda - 1 tsp
- nuts - 1 c
- stick butter - 1/2 item
- dash of salt - 1 item
- oats
- caramel candies - 1 pkg
- graham crumbs - 3 c
How to make festive caramel bars:
Combine caramel candies and milk, in a heavy saucepan; cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, until caramels are melted and wel blended.Combine flour, oats, nuts, sugar, soda and salt; add butter, mixing until mixture resembles graham crumbs. Reserve 1 cup; press remaining mixture onto the bottom of a greased 13 x 9-inch baking pan. Bake at 375° for 10 minutes.
Sprinkle 1 cup of candies over the partially baked crust; drizzle melted caramel mixture over the candies. Sprinkle reserved crumb mixture and remaining candies over. Continue baking 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown. Cool slightly; chill 30 minutes. Cut into bars.
