  • cube margarine - 1 item
  • sugar - 2 c
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • water - 3 Tbsp
  • chocolate chips
  • chopped nuts - 1 c

How to make english toffee:

Melt margarine in a heavy skillet. Add sugar and water. Bring to a boil. Stir constantly. Allow to boil until margarine mixture turns golden brown (hard ball stage). Remove from heat. Add vanilla. Stir and then pour into a cookie sheet with sides. Allow to sit for about 5 minutes, then sprinkle with chocolate chips. Chips will melt. Spread chocolate. Sprinkle nuts and allow to cool. Cut in chunks.
