English sherry trifle



  • chopped nuts - 1 item
  • whipped cream - 1 item
  • bananas - 4 item
  • low-fat milk - 1 pt
  • raspberry jello - 1 pkg
  • ladyfingers - 1 sponge
  • large can fruit salad - 1 item
  • Birds custard powder import section - 1 pkg
  • Harveys Bristol cream sherry any golden sherry will do - 1 c

How to make english sherry trifle:

Slice half the sponge roll into 1-inch squares or rounds (or use ladyfingers) into bottom of glass bowl. Soak with half the sherry. Layer with fruit salad (reserve the cherries), 3 sliced bananas, the remainder of the sponge roll and finish with half a cup of sherry.

Meanwhile, prepare the jello mix with 1 cup hot water and 1 cup cold water. Pour over mixture and let set. Make custard as directed on package. Let cool and pour over mixture. Let set in refrigerator. Decorate with sliced bananas and cherries. If desired, top with whipped cream and nuts.
