English muffin loaves
Ingredients/Components
- flour - 5 to
- sugar - 1 Tbsp
- salt - 2 tsp
- baking soda - 1/4 tsp
- milk - 2 c
- water - 1/2 c
- cornmeal - 1 item
How to make english muffin loaves:
*Measure by spooning flour lightly into cup.Combine 3 c. flour, yeast, sugar, salt and soda. Heat liquid until very warm (120 to 130 degrees). Add to dry mixture; beat well. Stir in enough more flour to make a stiff batter. Spoon into 2, 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 in. pans that have been greased and sprinkled with cornmeal. Sprinkle tops with cornmeal. Cover; let rise in warm place for 45 minutes. Bake at 400 degrees for 25 minutes. Remove from pans immediately and cool.
To Serve: Slice and toast. Makes 16 slices per loaf.
