Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1 Tbsp
  • milk - 2 c
  • salt - 2 tsp
  • flour - 5 to
  • water - 1/2 c
  • baking soda - 1/4 tsp
  • yeast - 2 pkg

How to make english muffin bread:

Heat milk and water to 120°. Combine 3 cups flour, yeast, sugar, salt and soda. Add heated liquids to flour mix and beat well. Stir in enough extra flour to make stiff batter. Grease 2 bread pans and sprinkle with cornmeal. Spread batter in pans and sprinkle with more cornmeal.

Cover and let rise for 45 minutes. Bake at 400° for 25 minutes or until light brown. Remove from pans and let cool. Good way to serve is broiled with garlic butter. Makes good toast.
