English muffin bread
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 Tbsp
- salt - 2 tsp
- baking soda - 1/4 tsp
- cornmeal - 1 item
- flour, divided - 5 c
- active dry yeast - 2 pkg
- warm water 120~ to 130~ - 1/2 c
- warm milk 120~ to 130~ - 2 c
How to make english muffin bread:
In large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups flour, yeast, sugar, salt and baking soda. Add warm milk and water. Beat on low speed for 30 seconds and on high speed for 3 minutes. Stir in remaining flour. Dough will be stiff. Do not knead. Grease 2 loaf pans; sprinkle with cornmeal. Spoon batter into pans. Sprinkle cornmeal on top. Cover; let rise until double, about 45 minutes. Bake at 375° for 35 minutes. Remove from pans immediately; cool on rack. Slice and toast.Recipe categories: Breads, Yeast breads, English.
