  • sugar - 1 Tbsp
  • salt - 2 tsp
  • baking soda - 1/4 tsp
  • cornmeal - 1 item
  • dry yeast - 2 pkg
  • flour, divided - 5 c
  • warm water 120~ to 130~ - 2 c
  • warm milk 120~ to 130~ - 2 c

How to make english muffin bread:

In large bowl, combine 2 cups flour, yeast, sugar, salt and baking soda. Add warm milk and water; beat on low for 30 seconds, scraping bowl often. Beat on high for 3 minutes, then stir in remaining flour. Dough will be stiff. Do not knead. Grease 2 bread pans and coat with cornmeal. Spoon batter into pans. Sprinkle with cornmeal. Cover and let rise to double in size in a warm place. Bake in 375° preheated oven until golden brown. Remove from pan immediately. Cool. Slice for toasting.
