  • milk - 1 c
  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • flour - 2 Tbsp
  • butter - 2 Tbsp
  • pepper - 1/8 tsp
  • boiled eggs - 1 item
  • buttered toast - 1 item

How to make eggs a la goldenrod:

Melt butter over low heat in a heavy saucepan. Wooden spoon for stirring is a help. Blend in flour and seasonings. Cook over low heat, stirring, until mixture is smooth and bubbly. Remove from heat. Stir in milk and chopped up whites of eggs. Bring to boil, stirring constantly. Boil 1 minute. Pour over buttered toast. Sieve the egg yolks over top.
