Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- celery seed - 1/2 tsp
- white vinegar
- mustard seed - 1/2 tsp
- ground turmeric - 1/2 tsp
- thinly sliced onions - 2 c
- thinly sliced cucumbers - 6 c
How to make easy refrigerator pickles:
In a glass or crockery bowl, alternately layer sliced cucumbers and onions. In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, vinegar, salt, mustard seed, celery seed and turmeric. Bring to a boil, stirring, just until sugar is dissolved. Pour vinegar mixture atop cucumber-onion mixture; cool slightly. Cover tightly. Refrigerate at least 24 hours before serving.
