Ingredients/Components

  • butter or margarine - 2 Tbsp
  • large onion, sliced thin - 1 item
  • sugar - 1/2 tsp
  • can beef consomme or 10 oz - 1 oz
  • water
  • can chunky old-fashioned vegetable beef soup - 2 Tbsp

How to make easy french onion soup:

Melt butter in medium-size saucepan. Add onion and sugar; cook and stir 5 to 10 minutes until lightly browned. Add bouillon, water and Worcestershire sauce; simmer 10 to 15 minutes.

You might wish to place a slice of toasted bread on each bowl of soup. Add generous amount of cheese to top of toast in bowl. Place bowls in hot oven on cookie sheet until cheese is melted. This can be served when you want to make a good impression.
