  • sugar - 3/4 c
  • cinnamon - 1 tsp
  • flour - 2 Tbsp
  • unsifted all-purpose flour
  • lemon juice - 1 Tbsp
  • light brown sugar, firmly packed - 1/3 c
  • 9-inch baked pie crust - 1 item
  • liquid Butter Buds - 1/3 c
  • Cool Whip light - 2 c
  • dash of lite salt optional - 1 item
  • tart cooking apples green apples

How to make dutch apple pie:

Topping:2/3 c. unsifted all-purpose flour1/3 c. light brown sugar, firmly packed1/3 c. liquid Butter Buds Filling:2 lb. tart cooking apples (green apples)1 Tbsp. lemon juice2 Tbsp. flour3/4 c. sugar dash of lite salt (optional)1 tsp. cinnamon2 c. Cool Whip (light) Prepare pastry pie crust and refrigerate until ready to use.

Make topping: Combine flour and sugar in a medium bowl. With a fork, blend liquid Butter Buds into mixture until it resembles the consistency of coarse cornmeal. Refrigerate. Preheat oven to 400°.

Make filling: Core and pare apples. Slice thinly into a large bowl; sprinkle with lemon juice. Combine flour, sugar, lite salt and cinnamon, mixing well. Toss lightly with apples. Turn filling into unbaked pie crust, spreading evenly. Cover with topping. Bake 40 to 45 minutes or until apples are tender. Serve warm with Cool Whip. Serves 8.
