Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/3 c
- milk - 1/2 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- nutmeg - 1/2 tsp
- baking powder - 2 tsp
- boiling water - 4 tsp
- shredded coconut - 1 c
- sifted flour
- sifted powdered sugar - 1 c
- melted shortening - 2 Tbsp
- grated orange rind - 2 tsp
- egg, lightly beaten - 1 item
- Combine egg and milk; blend well
How to make drop doughnuts:
Sift together flour, sugar, salt, baking powder and nutmeg. Combine egg and milk; blend well. Gradually add to dry mixture, stirring constantly; add shortening and orange rind. Beat until smooth and well blended. Drop from teaspoons which have been dipped in hot fat to prevent dough from sticking to spoons, use 1 teaspoon to push dough from the other teaspoon into hot oil. Fry and drain. Dip in Honey Glaze.Honey Glaze with Coconut:1/2 c. honey1 c. sifted powdered sugar4 tsp. boiling water1 c. shredded coconut Heat honey in heavy saucepan; add water and powdered sugar and mix thoroughly.
