  • cakes yeast - 2 item
  • warm water - 1 c
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • sugar - 1 Tbsp
  • eggs - 4 item
  • hot water - 4 c
  • shortening - 1 c
  • vanilla - 3 tsp
  • dried milk
  • flour - 6 c
  • In large bowl, mix hot water, 1 cup sugar, shortening, eggs, salt, vanilla and dried milk
  • boiling water - 2 Tbsp

How to make doughnuts:

Dissolve yeast in 1 cup warm water with 1 teaspoon salt and 1 tablespoon sugar. In large bowl, mix hot water, 1 cup sugar, shortening, eggs, salt, vanilla and dried milk. Add enough flour to make soft dough. Add yeast mixture. Mix in enough flour to be able to handle dough. Set in warm place to raise until double in bulk.

Knead down; let rise again. Roll 1/2-inch thick. Cut out; let raise about an hour. Fry in deep fat at 365°. Drain. Roll in sugar or glaze.Glaze:1 c. powdered sugar2 Tbsp. boiling water Mix and dip doughnuts.
