Ingredients/Components

  • salt - 4 tsp
  • all-purpose flour
  • egg, beaten - 1 item
  • cornmeal - 1 c
  • whole wheat flour - 2 c
  • rye flour - 1 c
  • yeast, dissolved in 1/4 c - 1 pkg
  • instant dry milk - 1/2 c
  • bulgur wheat or oatmeal - 1 c
  • lukewarm broth chicken or beef bouillon - 2 2

How to make dog biscuits:

Stir dry ingredients together. Add broth, yeast and egg. Mix well. Dough will be stiff; if necessary, add a bit more broth. Roll dough to 1/4-inch thickness. Cut into rectangles 1/2 x 1-inch or use bone shaped cookie cutter. Bake in a 300° oven for 45 minutes. Turn off the oven and leave in oven overnight or at least 6 hours. Keeps for long periods of time. Can be used for "people" snacks if eaten out of sight of your dog.
