- cups buttermilk - 2 item
- teaspoon salt - 1 item
- teaspoon soda - 1 item
- tablespoons flour - 3 item
- 1/2 cups enriched white cornmeal - 1 item
- tablespoons bacon drippings or melted butter - 2 item
How to make dixie corn bread:
Sift together dry ingredients. Add buttermilk, egg, and drippings, mixing just until dry ingredients are moistened. Pour into a greased, hot skillet. Cook in 450 degree oven 20-25 minutes. Serve warm with butter. Yields 4-6 serving.Recipe categories: Egg, Breads, Grains.
