Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 Tbsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- butter - 1 Tbsp
- soda - 1/4 tsp
- sifted flour - 2 to
- warm water - 1/4 c
- instant minced onion - 1 Tbsp
- dry yeast - 1 pkg
- dill seed - 2 tsp
- creamed cottage cheese, heated to lukewarm - 1 c
- unbeaten egg - 1 item
How to make dilly casserole bread:
Soften yeast in water. Combine in mixing bowl the cottage cheese, sugar, onion, butter, dill seed, salt, soda, egg and softened yeast. Add flour to make a stiff dough, beating well after each addition. Let rise to double in size, 50 to 60 minutes. Stir down dough.Turn into well-greased, 8-inch round (1 1/2 to 2-quart) casserole. Let rise in a warm place for 30 to 40 minutes. Bake at 350° for 40 to 50 minutes, until brown (crust will be dark brown). Brush with soft butter. Sprinkle with salt. Makes 1 loaf.
