Ingredients/Components

  • green beans
  • cider vinegar - 1/2 c
  • water - 1 c
  • sugar - 3 Tbsp
  • salt - 1 Tbsp
  • garlic clove, crushed - 1 item
  • red pepper flakes - 1 tsp
  • coarsely chopped fresh dill or 1 tsp - 1/4 c
  • dill weed - 1/4 tsp
  • mustard seed - 1/4 tsp

How to make dilled green beans:

Drop beans in boiling salted water and boil or steam for 1 minute. Drain well and immerse immediately in cold water. When beans have cooled, drain again, then pat dry. Place in a large glass dish.

Measure vinegar, water, sugar and salt into a small saucepan and set over medium heat. When mixture starts to simmer, remove from heat. Stir in garlic and seasonings. Pour hot mixture over beans and stir until well coated.

Immediately refrigerate beans. When chilled, cover and refrigerate overnight, stirring occasionally.

Remove beans from marinade when ready to serve. (Beans may appear yellowish green.)
