Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1/2 c
- water - 13 13
- vinegar - 6 6
- dill - 1 item
- cucumbers - 1 item
- to 3 hot peppers optional - 2 item
How to make dill pickles:
Wash and clean cucumbers. Cut in quarters lengthwise. Pack in clean jars. Add 2 heads of dill to each jar and hot peppers, if used. Mix water, vinegar and salt; bring to boil. Pour into jars over cucumbers.Insert table knife into sides of jar to release air bubbles. Seal jars. Set in large kettle. Fill kettle with water to cover lids of jars. Bring to a boil (heavy). Turn off heat. Let jars set in water until cool. Ready to eat in 4 to 6 weeks.
