  • eggs - 6 item
  • vanilla - 2 tsp
  • salt - 2 tsp
  • flour - 4 c
  • brown sugar - 2 c
  • soda - 2 tsp
  • baking powder - 2 tsp
  • chocolate chips - 2 c
  • shortening - 2 c
  • chopped nuts optional - 2 c
  • rolled oats - 4 c
  • white sugar - 2 c

How to make davy crockett bars:

Cream sugar, shortening and eggs. Add dry ingredients and mix. Stir in vanilla, nuts and chocolate bits. Put in shallow layers on cake pans. Make glaze from 10x sugar and milk. Put this on bars when removing from oven. Bake 10 to 15 minutes at 350°. Cut into bars. Makes 48 (2 1/2-inch) bars. Do not overbake!
