  • sugar - 1 c
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • flour - 1 c
  • butter - 1 tsp
  • water - 1 c
  • eggs, beaten - 2 item
  • baking soda - 1 tsp
  • nuts, chopped - 1 c
  • dates - 1 c

How to make date torte:

Boil until thick the dates, butter and water; cool, then add soda, sugar, eggs, salt, vanilla, flour and nuts. Bake at 350° for 40 minutes. When cool, whip 1 pint of whipping cream and dribble with chocolate syrup. Refrigerate overnight.
