  • sugar - 1 c
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • chopped nuts - 1 c
  • flour
  • butter - 1/4 c
  • cold water - 1 c
  • soda - 1 tsp
  • baking powder - 1 tsp
  • boiling water - 1 c
  • egg - 1 item
  • pack chopped dates - 1 item

How to make date pudding:

Sauce for Date Pudding:2 c. sugar1/2 tsp. salt1 c. cold water1 Tbsp. butter1 tsp. vanilla Pour boiling water over dates, let stand. Cream butter and sugar, add egg and stir in dates. Combine flour, baking powder, salt, soda and nuts. Add to date mixture and stir. Put in greased pan and bake at 300° for 1 hour.

Sauce for Date Pudding: Combine sugar, salt and cold water. Boil 5 minutes, stirring. Add butter and vanilla. Pour over pudding while hot.
