Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 c
- eggs - 2 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour - 5 c
- brown sugar - 1 c
- cornstarch - 1 tsp
- water - 1 c
- nutmeg - 1/4 tsp
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- baking soda - 1 tsp
- shortening - 1 c
- raisins
- white sugar - 1 c
- sour milk - 1 Tbsp
How to make date pinwheels:
Filling:1 c. raisins1 c. sugar1 tsp. vanilla1 c. water1 tsp. cornstarch Cookies: Mix sugars, flour, salt, nutmeg and baking powder. Add shortening and eggs and sour milk with soda dissolved in it. Add vanilla. Dough should be just dry enough to roll. (If too dry, add a little milk.) Roll thin and cut with cookie cutter. Put filling in center of cookie and cover with another. Press edges. Bake in hot oven at 350° to 375°.Filling: Grind raisins. Mix cornstarch with sugar; add raisins and water and cook gently (stirring) until thick. Add vanilla. Cool a bit before topping cookies.
