Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- eggs - 2 item
- vanilla - 1/2 tsp
- milk - 1/4 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour - 2 c
- brown sugar - 1 c
- soda - 2 tsp
- boiling water - 2 c
- dates, cut up - 1 lb
- nuts, cut up - 1/2 c
- butter heaping - 3 tsp
- Pour boiling water over dates, then add soda and cool
How to make date cake:
Cream together butter, sugar and eggs. Pour boiling water over dates, then add soda and cool. Add date mixture alternately with flour. Bake at 325° for 40 or 50 minutes. Top with Caramel Frosting.Caramel Frosting:1/2 c. butter1/4 c. milk1 c. brown sugar1/2 tsp. salt1/2 tsp. vanilla Cook butter and brown sugar slowly for 2 minutes.
