Danish puffs
Ingredients/Components
- eggs - 3 item
- vanilla
- butter or margarine - 1/2 c
- flour - 1 c
- water - 2 Tbsp
- almond extract - 1 tsp
- powdered sugar
- butter or margarine, softened - 1/2 c
- softened butter - 2 Tbsp
- warm water - 1 2
How to make danish puffs:
Glaze:1 1/2 c. powdered sugar1 1/2 tsp. vanilla2 Tbsp. softened butter1 to 2 Tbsp. warm water Cut butter into flour. Sprinkle 2 tablespoons water over mixture and mix like pie dough. Round into ball and divide in half. On an ungreased baking sheet, pat each half into a 12 x 3-inch strip 3-inches apart.Heat butter and water to rolling boil. Remove from heat and quickly stir in almond extract and flour. Stir vigorously over low heat until mixture forms a ball (about 1 minute). Remove from heat. Beat eggs in, one at a time, until dough is smooth and glossy. Divide in half and spread evenly over strips. Bake at 350° for 60 minutes until top is crisp and brown. Frost with Glaze.
Glaze: Mix until smooth the powdered sugar, vanilla, softened butter and water. Spread over puffs. Sprinkle with nuts.
