Danish pastry apple bars
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 c
- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- vanilla - 1/2 tsp
- milk - 1 item
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour
- water - 1 Tbsp
- shortening - 1 c
- powdered sugar - 1 c
- egg yolk - 1 item
- egg white - 1 item
- crushed cornflakes - 1 c
- to 10 sliced apples - 8 item
How to make danish pastry apple bars:
Cut together the flour, salt and shortening. Add together the egg yolk and enough milk to make 2/3 cup liquid; add to flour mixture and roll as a pie crust. Put half the crust on a cookie sheet and cover with crushed cornflakes. Add sliced apples, sugar and cinnamon. Top with remaining crust. Beat an egg white and spread on top of crust.
