Danish pastry apple bars
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 c
- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- milk - 1 more
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour
- shortening - 1/2 c
- powdered sugar - 1 c
- margarine - 1/2 c
- corn flakes - 1 c
- egg yolk - 1 item
- egg white - 1 item
- apples, pared and sliced - 15 item
How to make danish pastry apple bars:
Combine flour and salt; cut in margarine and shortening. Beat egg yolk; add enough milk to make 2/3 cup liquid. Mix well; add to flour mixture. Roll half dough into 17 x 12-inch rectangle. Fit into 15 1/2 x 10 1/2-inch baking pan. Sprinkle corn flakes on dough; top with apples. Combine sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle over apples. Roll out remaining dough and place over top; seal and slit in several places. Beat egg white until frothy and brush over crust. Bake at 375° for 50 minutes.
