Danish apple squares
Ingredients/Components
- flour
- salt - 1 tsp
- shortening - 1/2 c
- margarine - 1/2 c
- egg yolk - 1 item
- approximately 10 apples, peeled and sliced
- sugar - 1 c
- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- egg white - 1 item
- corn flakes - 1 c
- Beat egg yolk and add milk to make 2/3 cup liquid
- milk - 4 tsp
- vanilla - 1/2 tsp
How to make danish apple squares:
Cut shortening into flour and salt. Beat egg yolk and add milk to make 2/3 cup liquid. Add to flour mixture. Roll out 1/2 dough to fit bottom and sides of large shallow pan. Sprinkle corn flakes over bottom crust. Cover with apples. Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. Dot with butter. Add top crust and brush with egg white that has been beaten.
