Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 3 Tbsp
  • salt - 2 tsp
  • water - 8 c
  • lemon juice - 3 Tbsp
  • paprika - 1/2 tsp
  • chopped onion - 1 c
  • bay leaf - 1 item
  • chopped parsley - 1/4 c
  • Tabasco sauce - 1/2 3/4
  • cloves garlic, chopped - 2 item
  • tomatoes - 2 cans
  • beef short ribs - 2 lb
  • sauerkraut - 1 can
  • dried leaf thyme - 1 tsp
  • beef soup bones - 2 lb
  • carrots, pared and coarsely chopped - 3 item
  • 1 head coarsely chopped cabbage - 8 c

How to make czechoslovakian cabbage soup:

Place beef bones, onion, carrots, garlic and bay leaf in roasting pan. Top with short ribs; sprinkle with thyme and paprika. Add water and cook until tender. Add rest of ingredients and simmer 30 minutes. Serve hot. Good reheated.
