Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1 c
  • cinnamon - 1/4 tsp
  • salt - 1 item
  • flour - 1 item
  • vinegar - 1/4 c
  • ground cloves - 1/4 tsp
  • curry powder - 3 tsp
  • diced onions - 1 c
  • raisins, if desired - 1 item
  • beef, cut into 1-inch cubes - 3 lbs
  • rhubarb or apples, cut fine

How to make curried beef:

Chutney (great served with the beef)2 c. rhubarb or apples, cut fine1 c. sugar1/4 c. vinegar1/4 tsp. ground cloves1/4 tsp. cinnamon raisins, if desired Brown meat cubes in a small amount of oil or shortening. Remove from pan. Put onions in pan and fry until clear. Do not brown. Return meat to pan and add curry powder. Cover with water. Bring to a boil, lower heat and simmer until meat is tender. Salt to taste. Thicken broth with a little flour. Serve over rice or noodles. Chutney is good spread on top of meat. To make chutney, simply cook all ingredients until thick. Enjoy!
