Crisp bread and butter pickles
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 5 c
- celery seed
- green pepper, chopped - 1 item
- medium onions, chopped - 6 item
- white vinegar - 3 c
- mustard seed - 2 Tbsp
- turmeric
- pickling salt - 1/3 c
- sliced cucumbers - 4 qt
- garlic powder for each clove - 3 cloves
How to make crisp bread and butter pickles:
Mix cucumbers, onions, garlic and green pepper. Add salt. Cover with ice cubes. Mix. Add more ice on top. Let stand 3 hours, then drain. Add remaining ingredients. Heat to boil and seal. Makes 6 to 8 pints. Store in refrigerator. In memory ofRecipe categories: Weeknight, Vegetables, Canning.
