  • sugar - 5 c
  • celery seed
  • green pepper, chopped - 1 item
  • medium onions, chopped - 6 item
  • white vinegar - 3 c
  • mustard seed - 2 Tbsp
  • turmeric
  • pickling salt - 1/3 c
  • sliced cucumbers - 4 qt
  • garlic powder for each clove - 3 cloves

How to make crisp bread and butter pickles:

Mix cucumbers, onions, garlic and green pepper. Add salt. Cover with ice cubes. Mix. Add more ice on top. Let stand 3 hours, then drain. Add remaining ingredients. Heat to boil and seal. Makes 6 to 8 pints. Store in refrigerator. In memory of
