How to make crescent rolls:
Combine milk, shortening, sugar and salt. Cool to lukewarm. Add yeast and stir well. Add eggs, then flour. Mix to a smooth, soft dough. Knead lightly on a floured surface. Place dough in a greased bowl; cover with a wet cloth and let rise until at least doubled in bulk. Divide dough in thirds. Roll each third on lightly floured surface to a 10-inch circle. Brush with melted butter. Cut each circle into 8 to 12 wedge-shaped pieces. Roll each wedge, starting with the wide end and rolling to the point. Arrange on a greased baking sheet and brush with melted butter. Cover and let rise until light. Bake at 400° to 425° for 15 minutes or less. If desired, brush with a brown sugar and water glaze.Recipe categories: Breads, Quick breads, English.
