Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/2 c
- eggs - 2 item
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 4 c
- boiling water - 1 c
- shortening - 1/2 c
- soft butter - 1 item
- warm water - 3 Tbsp
- yeast - 1 pkg
How to make crescent rolls:
Dissolve yeast in warm water; set aside. Place shortening and salt in boiling water; let stand until lukewarm. Beat eggs and mix in sugar. Add to water mixture and add yeast. Stir in 2 cups flour; beat well. Add remaining flour gradually. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Roll dough in 2 rounds 1/4-inch thick. Spread with softened butter and cut in pie shaped wedges. Roll into crescents. Let rise 3 hours on greased baking sheet. Bake at 400° for 6 to 10 minutes. Yields 2 to 3 dozen rolls.Recipe categories: Breads, Quick breads, English.
