Creole beans
Ingredients/Components
- flour - 1 Tbsp
- brown sugar - 2 Tbsp
- water - 6 c
- Worcestershire sauce - 1 tsp
- diced green pepper - 1/2 c
- chopped onion - 3/4 c
- prepared mustard - 2 tsp
- salt and pepper - 1 item
- seasoned salt - 1 tsp
- canned tomatoes
- dried large lima beans - 1 lb
How to make creole beans:
Bring water to boil and add beans. Boil 2 minutes. Cover and let stand 1 hour. Return to heat and simmer, covered, until tender, a fork pierces a single bean easily; drain. Saute onion and green pepper in a little oil. Stir in flour, seasonings and sugar. Add tomatoes and simmer, uncovered, for 10 minutes. Stir in cooked beans; heat through.
