Creamed onions
Ingredients/Components
- cornstarch
- margarine - 2 Tbsp
- small bay leaf - 1/2 item
- whole cloves - 3 item
- small onion, peeled - 1 item
- liquid nondairy creamer - 1 c
- medium onions unpeeled - 10 item
How to make creamed onions:
Place 10 onions on a rack over water in a saucepan. Cover and cook 30 minutes. Run under cold water and peel.To make cream sauce, melt margarine. Add cornstarch. Blend over low heat for 5 minutes. Cool. Slowly stir in nondairy creamer. Add small onion, studded with cloves and bay leaf. Stir over medium heat until thickened. Place in 350° oven for 20 minutes. Strain and pour over onions. Serves 10.
