Creamed cabbage soup

- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 3 Tbsp
- butter - 1/4 c
- light cream - 2 c
- pepper - 1/4 tsp
- cans chicken broth - 2 1/2
- medium onion, chopped - 1 item
- thyme - 1/2 tsp
- cabbage, shredded - 1 (3
- ribs celery, chopped - 2 item
- carrot, chopped - 1 item
- cooked ham - 2 c
How to make creamed cabbage soup:
In a large kettle, combine first 5 ingredients; bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover and simmer until vegetables are tender. Meanwhile, melt butter in a medium pan. Add flour, salt and pepper; stir to form a smooth paste. Gradually add cream and milk to flour mixture, stirring constantly. Cook until thickened. Continue cooking 1 minute longer. Gradually stir into vegetables. Add ham and thyme; heat through. Makes 8 to 10 servings.Recipe categories: Soups & stews, German, Stocks.
