Ingredients/Components

  • sugar
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • vinegar - 1/4 c
  • mayonnaise
  • pepper to taste - 1 item
  • celery seed - 1 tsp
  • celery stalks - 2 item
  • cabbage approximately 1 head, depending on size - 3 lb
  • carrot for color - 1/2 item

How to make creamed cabbage:

Remove heart and bad leaves from cabbage. Shred remaining head. Chop celery and carrots very fine. Mix vinegar, sugar and mayonnaise together. Add all dry ingredients. Combine in a bowl with shredded vegetables. Refrigerate at least 2 hours before serving. For best results, allow to stand overnight.
