Cream of spinach soup
Ingredients/Components
- pkg - 1 oz
- milk
- salt - 1 tsp
- butter - 1/3 c
- all-purpose flour - 1/3 c
- ground nutmeg - 1/8 tsp
- pepper - 1/4 tsp
- chopped onion - 1/3 c
How to make cream of spinach soup:
In 3-quart saucepan, melt butter. Add onion. Cook and stir over medium heat, until onion is tender. Stir in flour, salt, pepper and nutmeg. Blend in milk. Cook and stir over medium heat until bubbly. Continue to cook and stir for 1 minute or until thickened. Stir in spinach. Remove from heat.Cream of Mushroom Soup: Omit nutmeg and spinach. Add 3 cups sliced fresh mushrooms (8 ounces) to butter flavor Crisco and onion. Cook and stir for about 4 minutes or until mushrooms and onion are tender. Continue as directed. Makes 4 to 6 servings.
