Ingredients/Components

  • milk - 1/2 c
  • butter or margarine - 2 Tbsp
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • flour - 2 Tbsp
  • water - 2 c
  • cream - 1/2 c
  • minced onion - 1 tsp
  • diced celery - 2 c
  • black pepper - 1 item
  • chopped mushrooms - 1 c

How to make cream of mushroom soup:

Cook celery in salted water until tender. Melt butter in saucepan; add mushrooms and simmer 5 minutes. Add onion to this mixture. Add the flour and blend, then the milk and cream; simmer until it has thickened. Add cooked celery mix and season with pepper and more salt, if desired. Heat and serve. A dash of whipped cream may be added.
