Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 3/4 c
  • butter - 2 Tbsp
  • cornstarch - 4 tsp
  • water - 1/2 c
  • almond extract - 1/8 tsp
  • chopped walnuts - 1/2 c
  • raisins - 1/2 c
  • light corn syrup - 3/4 c
  • grated orange rind - 2 tsp
  • cranberries
  • unbaked 9-inch pie shell and pastry for lattice topping - 1 item

How to make cranberry pie:

In saucepan, combine sugar and cornstarch; mix well. Add corn syrup, water and orange rind. Bring to a boil. Stir in almond extract, raisins, nuts and cranberries. Cover and cook until cranberry skins burst, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat. Dot with butter. Allow to cool; do not stir.

Turn cooled filling into pie shell. Arrange pastry strips on top. Brush pastry lightly with milk and sprinkle with sugar. Bake at 425° for 40 to 45 minutes.
