Ingredients/Components
- butter or margarine - 2 Tbsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- vegetable oil - 2 Tbsp
- lemon juice - 2 tsp
- pepper - 3/4 tsp
- prepared mustard - 1 Tbsp
- mayonnaise - 3 Tbsp
- hot sauce - 1/4 tsp
- red pepper - 1/8 tsp
- diced onions - 1/2 c
- large eggs, lightly beaten - 2 item
- saltine crumbs, divided 2 c - 3 c
- fresh lump crabmeat, drained - 1 lb
How to make crab cakes:
Stir together 2 cups cracker crumbs and next 9 ingredients. Fold in crabmeat. Shape into 8 (3-inch) patties; dredge in remaining 1 cup cracker crumbs.Melt butter in oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add crab cakes. Cook 4 minutes on each side until golden. Serve with lemon dill mayonnaise and red bell pepper sauce. Garnish, if desired. Makes 8 appetizers or 4 main dish servings.
