  • salt - 1 tsp
  • water - 4 c
  • stick butter - 1 item
  • chicken bouillon cubes - 2 item
  • sliced carrots - 1 c
  • sliced celery - 1 c
  • sliced onion - 1 c
  • milk or cream - 1 c
  • sliced potatoes - 1 c
  • sliced turnips - 1 c

How to make country vegetable soup:

Melt butter in a deep heavy pot. Add all the sliced vegetables. Cover tightly and stew over low heat for 20 minutes. Chop cooked vegetables; add water. Bring to a boil and simmer 20 minutes.

Add bouillon cubes, dissolved in 1 cup hot water. Bring to a boil. Add milk or cream. Serve.
