Cottage pudding
Ingredients/Components
- flour
- baking powder - 2 tsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- sugar - 1 c
- milk - 3/4 c
- shortening - 1/4 c
- egg - 1 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- Mix together sugar, milk, shortening, egg and vanilla
- cornstarch - 2 Tbsp
- butter or to taste - 4 Tbsp
- nutmeg or to taste - 2 tsp
How to make cottage pudding:
Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Mix together sugar, milk, shortening, egg and vanilla. Then add flour mixture. Blend well. Pour batter into 8-inch round cake pan, greased. Bake 30 to 35 minutes at 350°.Nutmeg Sauce:2 c. boiling water1 c. sugar2 Tbsp. cornstarch4 Tbsp. butter or to taste2 tsp. nutmeg or to taste Bring to a boil the water, sugar and cornstarch, stirring constantly for 1 minute.
