Ingredients/Components

  • ground chuck - 1 lb
  • large onion - 1 item
  • can tomato soup - 1 item
  • water - 2 c
  • corn - 1 c
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • pepper - 3/4 tsp
  • chili pepper - 1 Tbsp
  • chopped green peppers - 1/2 c
  • Dash and garlic powder
  • Add soup, water, corn, green peppers and seasonings
  • sugar - 1 Tbsp
  • flour - 1 Tbsp
  • baking powder

How to make cornbread pie:

Brown beef and onion in skillet. Add soup, water, corn, green peppers and seasonings. Mix well and simmer 15 minutes. Fill a 10-inch iron skillet or a 10-inch casserole (3/4 full).Topping:3/4 c. corn meal1 Tbsp. sugar1 Tbsp. flour1/2 tsp. salt1 1/2 tsp. baking powder Sift all together. Add 1 egg and 1/2 cup milk. Stir lightly and add 1 tablespoon oil. Stir well. Cover meat mixture with topping. Bake at 350° for 18 to 20 minutes.
