Ingredients/Components
- all-purpose flour - 1 c
- cornmeal - 3/4 c
- sugar - 1 Tbsp
- baking powder - 1 Tbsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- egg whites - 2 item
- skim milk - 1 c
- cooking oil - 1 Tbsp
- nonstick spray coating - 1 item
How to make cornbread:
In a medium mixing bowl, stir together flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder and salt. In small mixing bowl, beat egg whites and oil. Stir into dry ingredients just until mixed. Spray a 9 x 9 x 2 baking pan with nonstick spray coating. Pour batter into pan. Bake in a 400° oven for 20 to 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Makes 12 servings.Note: If desired, stir 1 (4-ounce) can chopped green chili peppers, drained, into milk mixture.
