Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 4 Tbsp
  • milk - 1/4 c
  • sour cream - 1 c
  • salt - 3/4 tsp
  • baking soda - 1 tsp
  • cream of tartar - 2 tsp
  • eggs, well beaten - 2 item
  • butter, melted - 4 Tbsp
  • yellow cornmeal - 1 c
  • white flour - 1 c

How to make corn cake:

Preheat oven to 425°. Butter a 9 x 9 x 2-inch pan. Combine flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking soda, cream of tartar and salt; mix well. Quickly add sour cream, milk, eggs and butter; stir just to mix. Spoon into pan. Bake for about 20 minutes. Cool; cut into squares.
