Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/4 c
- milk - 1 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour
- baking powder - 4 tsp
- egg - 1 item
- soft shortening - 1/4 c
- yellow cornmeal - 1/2 c
How to make corn bread:
Combine cornmeal, flour, sugar, salt and baking powder. Add milk, egg and shortening. Beat until fairly smooth, about 1 minute. Bake in a greased square pan at 425° for 20 to 25 minutes.Recipe categories: Breads, Quick breads, Southern u.s..
